Hey,

I forgot to let you know that Carmella got her first Q at the NADAC trial we went to between Christmas and New Years. She did so much better than I expected. In two days she actually had 2 runs with only time faults. 3 runs with obstacle faults and then her qualifying run and she placed 4th. I was so proud of her. She was nervous and overwhelmed as I had expected but she tried really hard to please me

Nancy,
We got home just fine, made it in about 4.5 hours. She was good on the way home, a little nervous, but that is totally understandable lol. We let her be here the first night by herself without Evie here, our other dachshund, so she could check it out without anyone bugging her. She walked around a little, but pretty much just slept the whole night which was good I think. We brought Evie home tonight to meet her and it went really well. They seem to like each other which is really good. I think Evie will 'mom' her and the new one was happy to see another dog again I think like back at your place. It made her much more excited and relaxed. Vanesa and I were happy to see both of their tails wagging furiously lol. We ended up naming her Lux. We will send some photos here in the near future. We have a Vet Appmt. scheduled for this Wednesday morning. We will let you know how that goes too. Thanks again for everything. You made mine, Vanesa's, and Evie's
Christmas very special.

Sincerely ~

  All of Us.

Hi Nancy –

My pup’s name is Molly and she is already spoiled rotten.  She came with me to Lori’s for New Year’s and has gone everywhere I go since then.  I think the only thing I have left to buy her is her bed, but not sure I’m even going to get one.  She didn’t even last 1 day in her kennel at night, she is sleeping with me and she sleeps on my lap when I am working during the day.  She gets along with all the other dogs great.  Hannah was a little jealous at first but she is doing fine now.  I’ll get you some pictures as she grows up.

Thanks again

Sorry I haven’t called or emailed.  Been busy.  Jordan and Wendy arrived yesterday just fine!!  In fact, I’m totally impressed with American Airlines.  I was not there the minute the girls arrived, as I got a late start from home, and picked my sister up first.  The freight guys had the girls out of their crate, had let them play, pee and poo, and the girls were fast asleep in one guy’s lap when I got there.  The other guy was not ‘ugly,’ but wanted to know why I was late……he has NO sense of humor with pet people who cannot BE there when their dog or cat arrives.  I explained to him the delay, and he said he was fine with that, but I have to tell you…..these guys are diligent!  They care!!  And they are warm, wonderful human beings.  I was totally impressed with their attitudes, caring, and just plain love.

Hug the girls, boys, etc.  These two are absolutely precious!!!  Their pictures do not do them justice.  Mama out did herself with this litter!

Hi, Nancy;

I’ll email later with pictures of the little girls and their continuing antics.  They’re a scream – literally, and have already intimidated every single Doberman except Dragon – and he thinks they’re his personal play toys.  Of course I supervise his time with them, and he’s being very gentle.  Dragon much prefers to catch Tyke (my little b/t mini stud pup) on his back, and hold him there while they exchange comments about the size and sharpness of each others’ teeth – literally.  Julie just snuggles in next to me, and watches the ‘idiots’ (as she calls them) play.  She’s such a good girl.  Julie is one of the best gifts I’ve ever given myself – as is Harvey.  He’s such a love-bug and snuggle-bug.  He knows when Mom isn’t at her best, and is there to ‘protect’ and give kisses and hugs.  His Mom and Dad must be something awesome with his attitude.

I’ll email more later – and don’t feel as if you have to answer now.  I understand being under the weather.  Really I do!

Nancy,

Pups are doing great! We’re spending a lot of time together and getting down some of the basics for civilized living. House training is going well and they’re taking to commands and responding by names. Fritz really doesn’t like to be away from Marlie very long. He’ll whine a lot if he can’t see or snuggle with her. Don’t know why. Any chance she gets she will run to tackle him then try to pin him. Vet says they’re both real healthy. No surprise there. We really appreciate raising two good pups for us. They’re growing fast but we take advantage of every minute we have with them.
Thanks again,

…how addictive these little ones REALLY are…!!!!!   – and yes I’m letting her pretty much run as she pleases – but my lap is her favored place.  She’s not had 1 accident in bed yet, and is using her piddle pads nicely.  I brought her to work yesterday – and again this afternoon – she’s a huge hit.  As my office is private and upstairs, I turn her loose on the carpeted floor, and she curls up under my desk on a jacket I use to keep my feet warm with in the winter.  Right now she’s fast asleep.

Nancy,

Hello again! Well we just wanted to thank you again for the wonderful opportunity to have such beautiful baby boys. They are doing great, maybe to great.....haha! The ride home was so much easier than we thought. They slept and played the whole way, when
we would stop they were more curious of the surroundings than they were in going to the bathroom. When we finally got home they just sniffed and then jumped on each other... I think they love it. It seems like they have always belonged and that there was not
transition period. Djems takes them to the puppy park to play everyday, they see other people and play with other puppies. They think they are strong until approached by another dog, it is great. They can swim and run to their hearts content. Samn'tha runs them in the park, after that all 3 are so tired they could care less about anything and one time wanted to sleep or be carried out of the park, they have their super lazy moments...
Castor is the obedient one who listens, comes when he is called and just loves people. Pollux is the one who just doesnt care, you can call him and if he dont want to move he wont come, he will just look at you and put his head down and go back to sleep or stay playing.
Pollux is still going potty on the floor, but he has been good for a few days. Castor pees and poops outside now, well unless he is copying Pollux. haha.....
They have a puppy bed in the kitchen where we all sit, when they are on that they could careless about anything else, they play with eachother and toys and sleep there during the day when not playing. They both sleep in different crates at night. They seem to be going into the crates on their own when you say their name and crate, it is amazing how smart they are.  It is like they are small children, we give them baths and they go to sleep right after. Pollux loves to nibble on feet. They both creep up to our daughter while she is on the kitchen chair and each at the same time steal her fluffy slippers, it is soooooo funny and then they run away with them...
We took them to the vet yesterday. The vet was amazed at how healthy they were, and how pretty their fur is, they did however gain tons of weight. Pollux is like 11 pounds and Castor is 13,, they like to have treats...haha....  They dont favor my husband or me
more, it is like whoever is closer to them to pet is the one at that point who is the favorite. They are still not able to climb stairs after going pee, they stumble tons with the big paws....
It is amazing how obedient they are, they dont go into any room of the house unless we show it to them, they have no drive to do so. Castor walks on a leash beautifully, walks, runs everything. Pollux just wants to go at this point, but he is still pretty good...
Well feel free to call the house at anytime, we are always there.....
We will send photos soon,,

Hey Nancy,

Her name is Carmella, which means nothing. I just took her ears down again today and will see how it goes. Yesterday was her most comfortable yet. She is getting confused about where to go and not go but we will work through that. She is intelligent and getting along with all the cats, dogs, and baby. Mark really loves her and that is what is important.

Hi Nancy,

Clovis is doing great!  He is such a smart dog!!  He has learned to sit, stay, and to stay off of the furniture.  He has adjusted extremely well, and loves his new home.  He goes nearly everywhere with us.  Last weekend we took him to Lincoln with us to the sporting goods store where I used to work.  We had a line of children waiting for their chance to pet him, and he
graciously accepted all of the attention!  He now weighs 35 pounds. His favorite toy is a green teddy bear, and he has 3, yes 3 beds located in his favorite parts of the house.  We sure are enjoying him.
Thanks again Nancy for the wonderful puppy.

Subject: Update on Bella

Nancy,

Just wanted to take a moment to let you know how our girl is doing.  Bob and I have really enjoyed having her in our home.  She adjusted very quickly – house breaking was a breeze and things were going very smoothly as we were looking forward to beginning training classes for her when Bob had unexpected back surgery and we had to ‘fast track’ Bella’s training.  I placed her with a professional trainer the day he got out of the hospital and she spent 3 days with her last week… What a smart girl she is.!! She mastered the come and off command with relative ease – most important due to Bob’s recent surgery and when she came home for the weekend, we were delighted in her progress.

Sunday, the three of us went for a short walk (part of his recovery) and when we got about half a block from the house, Bob was ready to go back home.  He said for Bella and I to go ahead and get our exercise, but Bella refused to leave his side and wouldn’t continue with the walk.  She insisted we accompany him back to the house where she saw that he was OK and back in bed - then she was happy to go back out and walk to the park.

She is also very gentle with my grandchildren, very liberal with kisses with the twins and adjusting to my older dog and cats.   She not only has a beautiful appearance, but a sweet spirit.  Thank you again for trusting this special girl to us.

Nancy;

Harv HAS to learn how to stop falling out of bed!  He's done it 2 nights in a row.  When I put him down to sleep, he quickly settles in, and sleeps!  Not only do I foresee my getting a larger bed, but one with kiddie rails on the sides as well.  My Bailey is NOT amused.  I sleep between him and Harv, so there's no grumbling.  Last night I was having a rather vivid dream, and was trying to comb something out of my hair.  I awoke to find Harv was "grooming" my hair with his feet, then with his teeth in an effort to awaken me to GO OUT TO PEE!!!  I was so  proud of him...  ((grins))

We had a great time today too. I know we didn't work the pups too long, but they are easily tired out and have short attention spans. A good session is when you get at least one (hopefully more) good stance out of them. You can work her on it a few times a day as long as you keep the sessions short.

Hi Nancy,

I just realized I hadn't let you know how my new pup is doing!
I love him to pieces. He is very well behaved and thinks Josie is wonderful. He recognized his breed! He is her shadow.
I took some pictures of them together but I have not downloaded them yet. Hopefully there are a couple where both were holding still enough to prevent a blurr.

Thanks for a wonderful second pup!!!

*Note: Leigh has a spayed red female she purchased from me about 18 months ago. Zeppelin is Josie's new playmate. A great home for both pups!

Anyway, Thank you so much for this wonderful addition to our family.

Nancy,

Sasha has decided to take a page out of her Mama’s book and be contrary. She hasn’t come into heat yet and I just know that she is holding out for me to clean my carpets. But I must say that my good-natured Doberman surprises me more and more every day. Someone tried to break in our new house last night while just I, Angeline, Devon and the twins were home. Sasha tried to go through the steel door after them. I was very impressed with her. All the hair from between her ears to the tip of her little nubby was standing on end. Needless to say the bold jackasses left quick, fast and in a hell of a hurry.

Soon as Miss Thing decides to quit being a true “depayne” I’ll give you a holler.

Hi Nancy,

Just wanted to drop by to let you know Asia is doing great!  She is a very good girl and is growing very fast. Her ears are standing perfect for such a young pup and we have stopped taping them now.  I have attached 2 pictures for you to see her. I'll keep in touch to let you know how she is as she grows up.

Vameng

Gracie is still doing well. She has a mind of her own and tends to think she's the boss. She's a stubborn one. lol. Her ears still aren't completely done. I think the problem was we took her to our regular vet and he didn't know much about ears and probably didn't tape them as well as he could have. I tried to fix them but she kept ripping them off. lol. We then took her to another vet (The only one in CR that does ears!) and he said that it would be 10 days with them on, 10 days without them on and then 10 days with them on again before they would be done.
Kay

Hi Nancy, we're doing good. Dobbs has really grown...he already weighs 30 lbs! He's a smart little guy too. We've been training and teaching him tricks here at home. He learns fast! And he's VERY playful.
Alison

Sorry I haven’t touched base in a while.  I have tried to send new photos a couple of times, but I am having trouble from our computer at home.  I will try again soon, we have some great ones.

We have made great strides…  Datan is now allowed to roam the house freely…(only short periods of time right now).  We keep the kennel in use during the day when everyone is gone and he chooses to sleep there at night.  He is not quite a year old and I am afraid of the chewing still.  The house breaking I think he could handle.

I also wanted to tell you to encourage everyone to do the obedience classes…It saved my little boys life last night.  My husband was home before I was and Datan was in the yard when I pulled in.  Well apparently we must have had a sales man come in the gate while no one was home and they didn’t latch it.  So when Datan saw me pull in he came running.  He stuck around me until we turned to go in the house and he saw a cat…He has a playmate that is a cat we got at the same time as him and he thought he should go play with this cat…WELL FULL SPEED AHEAD RIGHT TO THE STREET(anyone who knows dobe’s knows how fast that is!)!!!!!!!!!  Thank god for obedience because I yelled his name and NO and he stopped from a dead run and turned around!  OMG my heart was pounding….sooooo moral of the story, take em to class it’s worth it!  Helps that he had such good breeding that he is smart enough to understand too!!  Kudos to you!

I loved looking at the new pups pics…I followed them pretty regularly.

Nancy,

We absolutely love the puppy.  We call her Rusha.  Her registered name is going to be Von Krieger's From Rusha With Love.  When I was one year old my parents bought their first Doberman and his name was Adolf Rusher.  We called him Rusher.  Well, still to this day both my parents, my sister and I have a Doberman.  I named Diablo's dad Adolf after the first one and I have always loved Rusher for a name but didn't want to name another dog the same name so I came up with Rusha. The female version I guess!!  Anyway she has been great already.  She is so mild mannered.  In one of the pics you can see that my husband is adding on to his shop, hammering, nailing, power sawing, Rusha is laying inside the new part of the building sound asleep as all this is going on!!  And Gage just loves her as well.  She follows him everywhere.  He says she must know that he is going to show her and knows he is her "master". Well just wanted to let you know that we already wouldn't know what to do without her!! Thanks again!!

Virginia-Taye Cook Friday, 3/2/07, 11:18 AM Nancy; This "thank you" is very late in coming. For that I apologize. The girls that came to me as a result of "one tie" with Diablo and Jazz are really the lights of my life. In January Marlene and Miranda (aka, M&M) joined the Dobes that own me. These girls may become the foundation of the furtherance of your hard work to produce good, solid, healthy, intellegent pups. You nailed this one! Marlene is the "thinker" while Miranda tends to throw caution to the wind, regardless of the outcome. Both girls are so smart I truly have to watch what I do in front of them. Marlene learned how to open the one primary puppy gate in February. She could just reach the top of the gate, but she got it down pat! I am having a grand time watching these girls grow and mature. While pups will be pups, nothing onery they've done has been the fault of anyone but me. Toys, "binkies," food bowls and the door to the dryer are all fair game. Why the dryer? It's a long story...and Marlene was the instigator. Thank you so much for your guidance, care, consideration and understanding. Alana Monday, 3/13/06, 6:12 PM Hi, My husband and I purhased my Dobi "Tank" in Elizabethtown, KY he has traveled to several states as part of our U.S. Army Family. He is now 5 1/2 years old and spoiled with love and affection. This site truly expresses what "responsibility" is to being a pet owner. Nancy's Dobies are in excellent condition! With up to date information on each litter and their progress. Nancy will be the first person we'll call when we're ready to add a Dobie to our family! Great Site! Christy Jordan Wednesday, 3/1/06, 5:19 PM Our 8 week old "Lady" was flown in on Delta Airlines last Spring. She was from Jazz and Zeus's second litter, born February 28, 2005, and she is a year old now. During this past year, Nancy has always taken the time to return my emails. She is very knowledgeable and always happy to hear from her pups' owners. I would recommend Nancy's dobermans to those of you who are looking for a great family dog. Rachel Hutter Wednesday, 2/22/06, 5:11 PM I just brought home my puppy a few days ago and am very happy! Clovis is doing very well, he is such a great dog.  Yesterday he saved our house from at  least some serious smoke damage, and at worst a fire.  Carolyn turned on the teapot on the stove without much water in it.  She went to the basement office to do some work, and totally forgot about the teapot.  Carolyn said Clovis started growling and barking like she had never heard before.  When she came upstairs she saw the tea kettle smoking and the melted liquid handle almost ready to reach the flames of the stove!  Clovis was very upset at this to say the least!  Catastrophe avoided! We are really enjoying Clovis, and he loves his home.
